My interest in multiple aspects of therapy stems from thirty years of experience. Being a therapist is more than just a profession, it’s a substantial part of my life.
After I finished graduate school at St. Louis University in 1978 and receiving a Masters Degree in Social Work, I worked in Quincy Illinois as a Therapist on a hospital psychiatric unit. While in Quincy, I began a three year program in St. Louis Mo. having to do with Gestalt Therapy. I completed the program and received a Certificate in Gestalt Therapy. Gestalt Therapy was the first approach to therapy that I enjoyed and was the most rewarding for myself and clients.
After residing in Quincy for seven years, I accepted a position in Springfield, Illinois as Clinical Director of a Schizophrenia Research Program. For approximately six years, I was Clinical Director of the Program and an admissions unit.
In 1992 I took the leap and established a private practice. I also had an interest in domestic violence and established a program called Alternatives to Violence. This program eventually became one of the first certified programs in the state to provide an educational program to the perpetrators of domestic violence. Over the years I have worked with hundreds of men and women who have had anger management problems.
My beautiful wife and I have been married for over thirty years. We have two grown children we are very proud of and consider ourselves very fortunate.
I provide counseling to a variety of individuals at all ages. In addition to anger management counseling, I provide counseling for a number of other problems such as depression and anxiety. Couples counseling is another specialty of mine.
